What To Do if a Customer Turns Out To Be a Stalker
Quick Question
Q: “Ever have a customer while you were dealing crush on you? How did you handle it? Are there guidelines for situations like that?”
A: There’s one guy that stands out in my mind and he was a piece of work. I had just started dealing and I had this 85 year old guy on my table. I was being nice to him and he took it the wrong way and ended up stalking me for a week. This old man would be on my table for my entire 8 hour shift, during which, he would say the grossest, nastiest things on my table in front of my players.
This old man even figured out what car I drove and then he would wait for me at my car at the end of the shift just to harass me some more. Like 8 hours wasn’t enough. My Floor Supervisor asked me if I knew this guy and I was like hell no. Then I told him everything that had been going on. Luckily he asked one of his friends who was also a security guard to walk me to me car at the end of my shift. The guard did this for a few days before finally the old man stopped waiting for me at my car and stopped stalking me on my game. It was weird and a bit scary.
So that’s my story and how I handled it. Now, what are some things you could do if you have a stalker or if one of your players is making you feel uncomfortable? The first thing you should do is notify the Floor Supervisor of the situation. Also tell your co-workers what’s going on. That way if they see him bothering you on the casino floor, they’ll be more likely to come over and help you out of that situation. Unfortunately, if the person is playing on your table there might be times when the casino refuses to remove him and you’ll be stuck there having to deal with him. That’s one of the hazards of working as a casino dealer. If this person is trying to harass you after work, then ask a casino security guard to escort you to your car. If a security guard can’t do this, then walk to your car with a friend or a group of people.
